Story collab: Part 3 - Monstrous surprise

The wind blew gently through the trees and the moonlight shone down into the forest floor as the newly formed “adventuring party” moved through the forest. Castor didn’t know who these two were or why they needed the blossoms, but he was a master adventurer! These woods were basically his (in his mind at least).

Besides, they did help him out of a sticky situation… even if they did use up the last of the beku blossoms he had been snacking on ALL night.

“Um… I think it was this way!” Castor said, taking a sharp turn around a tall oak tree. “Then straight as an arrow towards a big rock!”

“Are you sure we aren’t lost?” Droned Marceline, tired of being lead in circles for the past hour.

Nymble walked along behind Castor like a zombie, nearly falling asleep with how quiet and dark the woods were.

“Duh. I’m the adventurer here! You found ME in the woods” said Castor with a giggle, as if Marceline’s accusation was just ridiculous.

The three of them marched on through the brush, with the older two wyngro struggling a little bit to get through some of the places Castor squeezed through with ease. Nymble used his earth magic to move some thicker patches of foliage out of the way as they walked.

Castor slowed down for a minute and perked his ears up. A moment later the other two did too, turning towards the distant sound of cracking sticks and rustling leaves. Nymble and Marceline didn’t seem too worried about it but after Castor’s last experience out in the woods at night, he was immediately anxious and got in between Nymble and Marceline.

“Hey don’t be scared, it’s probably just some animal.” Nymble said to the wyngling, “Look, see?” he said, parting the bushes where the noise was coming from and hoping to calm Castor down and get back on track to get the blossoms.

“No! It’s a monster! I’ve been through here before this has to be where that accursed monster lives!” Castor said in a whisper, backing up now farther from the bush.

“Look, if there’s any monster out there I can take care of it for you. You’ve got nothing to be afraid of Castor!” Nymble said to the cowering wyngling. “I’ll take the monsters down with my magic and they’ll never see it coming!” he said, striking a heroic pose.

Marceline rolled her eyes and started looking around for beku blossoms in the bushes around them instead of wasting time with imaginary monsters.

Suddenly there was cracking and rustling of the bushes once again, but much closer. Marceline and Nymble both looked at each other, curious now as to what it might be, while Castor froze up in fear. The sound split off in two directions and was gaining momentum fast. It was something big on one end and something small and fast on the other. Nymble stood ready in case it really was something dangerous, starting to get a little anxious himself.

“I found him!” came a voice from the dark. The monster, as tall as either of the adult wyngrew, was here and hardly able to be seen in the dark, the smaller one darted closer.

Castor leapt for the space in between Nymble’s legs for safety and ended up tripping him, landing the both of them in a heap on the ground as Alma and a brown wyngling stepped out into the light.

“There you are! You know now that you aren’t supposed to be out here in the middle of the-” Alma trailed off mid-sentence seeing a dazed Nymble on the ground along with the wyngling she was looking for.

Castor scrambled out from under Nymble and was not scared for a totally different reason. “I was helping Nymble! It’s very important! We have to get beku blossoms! Super duper important critical mission miss Alma.” he blurted out VERY fast.

“Oh, um… Alma can I come too? I mean, if it’s ok with them.” Chimed in Angel. “I know where there’s a few bushes I think and it’s easier to find something with more people.”

Marceline went to help up Nymble. “More eyes would definitely help out.” she said.

“Yeah, the more the merrier.” said Nymble, already smiling and ready to get back to it despite how tired he was.

Alma looked over the whole scene and sighed. What in the world had she walked into? “Ok, but the two of them need to be back before sunrise, okay?” she said.

Angel looked very happy and walked over to join the group. “My name is Angel! Nice to meet you.” he said.

As Alma left, Castor perked up again. “Alright! More adventure buddies!”

“Shall we go?” said Marceline, gesturing towards where Castor had been leading them before, and with that the new party of 4 set off once more into the night.

Whew. This took a while. I got help from Nestly with lining the characters, so that awesome line work on them is all hers!

It was a lot of fun! I can't wait to see how the rest of it develops! Next up is RainfoxArts who has to include Bat-Symphony 's Artemis!

A note though:
Aurora has requested that Marceline stay pregnant in the collab for continuity
I may grow Castor up VERY soon and I also want to request that he stay a wyngling for this collab story!
